My husband and I celebrated the life of a friend at a memorial service this evening. It was truly a bittersweet occasion. On one hand, his wife, family and friends are extremely sad and will miss him deeply. On the other hand, he lived life to the fullest and brought joy to many. He firmly believed that he was part of the whole, a spiritual being enjoying a temporary earthly experience, and now he is reunited with God. But he is still with us in spirit.
His very sudden passing reminds us to live every moment to the fullest, and to be and do our best. Don Miguel Ruiz emphasized this intention from Toltec wisdom in his book, The Four Agreements. He states that “Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstances, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.”
I am committed to doing my best in every moment. Sometimes I fall short of my ideal or my goal, but I try. I also try to be my best in every moment, and sometimes I fail at that as well. In my efforts to get the job done or meet a deadline, I may be a little abrupt or pushy. It is not my intention to hurt anyone or supersede their “authoriTea,” but in those busy times, I may lose touch with the loving, peaceful Essence that I am. That is when Ego takes over and my efforts are less than efficient or effective.
We are the hands, feet and heart of God on Earth. We are emissaries of Love and Light and when we are in tune with our true nature, we can easily express love every moment of every day. This is my intention—not to just to be a vessel of love or allow it to flow through me, but to show up as Love and Light. In this state, we hold that higher frequency that Eckhart Tolle described in his book, A New Earth, and everyone is uplifted. This is how we express our “diviniTea” through our “humaniTea.”
