My friend, Jill, raises an interesting aspect of intention in her comment, “It has become increasingly clear that my purpose has been to discover the capabilities, gifts, and splendor of being me.” Is it important to use our intention to accomplish more and do everything better? Or should our efforts focus on “being” and expressing the Divine Essence of our Self?
As a “perfectionistic doer,” I have struggled to find a balance between being and doing. For years, I was not even aware of a higher purpose, but strove for excellence while chalking up achievements and accolades, positions and power. When I redirected my efforts to helping others excel, I discovered true joy and empowerment. Still, I remained a doer, albeit a more enlightened one. This is how I was able to finalize my book, “Higher Tea: The Essence of Joy.”
I am learning how to be present while I am busy writing, creating programs, designing marketing materials, etc. When I pause and take a breath in a hectic moment, I become more aware of Spirit working through me and as me. Instead of putting forth so much effort to succeed, I allow it to happen naturally and easily. Then I am truly amazed at the “qualiTea” and “quantiTea” of my work. I am so much more productive and my work becomes my joy.
Perhaps the key is to just be present while doing, to be fully awake while fulfilling our earthly “duTeas.” Then we can gracefully and lovingly express our “DiviniTea” through our “HumaniTea” every moment of every day.
